Crescent moons

Crescent moons:
I love the look of a crescent moon. A full moon is glamorous and waxing and waning moons look to me like the moon is in trouble but a crescent seems to indicate new life or a change is coming. Not astrologically correct I know but it is how it makes me feel
We have the crescent moon near some planets in January and if you have a clear sky and ore out at the right time, particularly on the water have a look and get to recognise the planets.
(From southern sky watch)
The planets finally emerge from the glare of the Sun, but are close to the horizon. January 12; The Moon is very close to the bright star Spica. The Morning of January 15th to 28th, Mars passes close to some interesting clusters and nebula. Morning January 16; thin Crescent Moon near Jupiter, look at the small objects around Jupiter and you may be looking at his moons. Morning January 17; crescent Moon near Mars, the red planet. January 18 on, Comet 2006/P1 possibly visible to the unaided eye. Evening January 20; thin crescent Moon near Venus.
Go on have a look you will not need binoculars or a telescope and they can make good photo opportunities.
