Another day in paradise
October 13th 2006 08:13
Can I tell you that the religious fanatics don't have a Christmas hold on paradise. I was just there, (again) and wow was it good
Paradise for me is on Lake Macquarie with a cloudless blue sky
a fifiteen to twenty knot breeze and half a kilo of prawns in the cooler, (next to the beer.)
I sailed off the mooring (motor broken) around 1030 am under full main and #3 headsail. Not going flat stick as I had decided to tow the faithfull tinnie (that did have a motor) so we could do a shore excursion.
We broad reached at around 6.5 knots to Green point then Gybed and headed for Coal Point and Wangi Bay. The RSL club here at Wangi Wangi has the best breakfast in Australia for $6.00 p.p. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages and 2 toast, all in a waterfront lounge!
We picked up the public mooring and headed for the Wang RSL wharf by tinnie. Picked a nice park bench under the shade of a towering gum and devoured king prawns and shaved ham dipping both in French Onion Dip. Washed down by chilled orange juice as the sun sparkled on the water and the gulls squabbled for the scraps kids were feeding them.
From Wangi we sailed to Belmont bay in to the teeth of the wind which had dropped by around ten knots but we could not be bothered to change up to our #1 headsail. We picked up our mooring around 4.00 pm and after putting the boat to bed headed for the sailing club to enjoy a couple of well earned buckets of beer (light of course)
I plan to go to paradise again tomorrow and though I can't swear to seeing angel there I am sure there must be somewhere.
